Christmas Party Dec 2018

We had 31 people at Club One Casino for your annual Christmas Party. After a little social time, we all sat down to a nice dinner and then some music by De Ja Vu. We also managed to get in a meeting and do election of new Officers. 2018 was a good year for the club and here's hoping that 2019 will be even better. We covet your prayers, one of our members has been told she has cancer. Let's work on helping her get rid of that.

Lunch Run Nov 2018

5 cars headed up Hwy 41 then through Oneals and then on the back roads to North Fork and then finally up to Duceys at Bass Lake for lunch. After lunch we went to Reimers in Oakhurst for ice cream and then home. Great day considering it is the middle of November and the much of the country is already getting snow.

Mystery Tour Sept 2018

8 cars met at Chuckchansi and took a nice drive through the hills, up Hwy 49 to Coulterville for lunch. After lunch the drive continued in a different direction through Mariposa and back to Oakhurst for some ice cream at Reimers. Weather was perfect for tops down all day. Thanks to Ralph and Nancy for putting on the run.

Annual Club Birthday Party Sept 2018

We had 22 come to our annual party at Walt and Marlene's home. Marlene fixed a ham and we pot lucked everything else. Great day with late summer warm weather. Unfortunately the party just started when just a few miles away the Oak fire started and now two days later it is up to 400 acres and causing some evacuations. Let's hope they get it soon. Thanks Walt and Marlene for hosting this annual event. You have a nice home with a nice view.

Cedar Grove July 2018

On Saturday, July 21, 2018, 6 member cars (plus one guest) enjoyed a sunny drive from Fresno to Cedar Grove in Kings Canyon National Park. The run included a brief stop at the Grant Grove Visitor Center before the spectacular and twisty drive down into Kings Canyon. With a couple picnic tables right by the Kings River at Cedar Grove Village, we had a great time sharing stories over sandwiches and snacks. We even celebrated a birthday with some "Just Bundt" Cupcakes!

After lunch we made sure to drive to Road's End, winding between the amazing mountain views. We even had a bonus of seeing a small black bear right near the road! Turning for home, we enjoyed a quick stop at Grizzly Falls, and finally a photo-op stop at Vista Point.

The highway to Cedar Grove seems purpose-built for the Miata, and we all had a great time.

Gold Beach Jet Boat  Jun 2018

The SJVMC group of 8 cars and 15 people left bright and early on June 26th headed for the Oregon coast.  We had a great lunch at Granzilla’s in Williams and spent the night in Redding. We enjoyed a refreshing dip in the hotel pool and dinner at a Thai restaurant. (Some went for pizza).

Wednesday the 27thfound us traveling along the coast of Oregon to Gold Beach.  The weather was quite cool and windy.  The hotel was great and we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Spinners restaurant.

Thursday was the main event:  a jet boat ride up the Rouge River.  We traveled 104 miles round trip with lunch at a lodge midday.  The boat ride was super fun with many quick turns that managed to get us wet each time. The weather was perfect!

Friday found our group all leaving to different destinations in the area.  Some went straight home, others took an extra day to get home and still others went visiting friends and relatives in the area.

Dinner Run to Triangle Drive Inn Jun 2018

A nice Saturday evening with 7 cars at the Triangle Drive Inn for dinner and then off to Ampersand for ice cream down by Fresno High School. Thanks to Sam and Sarah for putting this on.

Annual Poker Run May 2018

We had 7 cars spend the day in the foothills around Fresno on a perfect weather day for our annual poker run. A little smaller run since it was just our club but a lot of fun. Good lunch at El Cids in Oakhurst and later dinner in Clovis. Congrats to Jim & Juanita for winning the poker hand and thanks to both them and Glenn and Judy for putting the run on.

Lunch Run Feb 2018

We had 10 cars leave Fresno and head up to Oakhurst for lunch at Taqueria Plazuelas, a great Mexican restaurant. After lunch drove to the other end of town to Reimers Candies for ice cream. Sat outside in the beautiful 70 degree weather. After ice cream some headed home and some drove around Bass Lake and took a longer drive home. Welcome new members Brian & Becky Weibe on their first run. Just a nice lazy day drive in the sun with the tops down.

The SJVMC just completed their 2018 Coastal Run.  The run was led by Jim & Juanita McKee, and this year, the club went a little further north on their excursion.  We left from Fresno on Saturday AM, with 10 cars.  We picked up 2 in the foothills, 1 in Madera, and another in Los Banos.  We caravanned to Filoli Gardens in Woodside, had a picnic lunch, than toured the home and gardens.  From there we were back in our cars for the short drive to Half Moon Bay.  Saturday night, we ate at the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company.

On Sunday we did a loop run that took almost 2 hours.  It was a run found on the internet, and suggested by the Ritz Carlton Hotel as a way to see the area.  We drove Hwy 92, then onto 35, then along to Hwy 84 (Alice’s Restaurant) took a right along to Pescadero Canyon Rd. turning left back to Hwy 1. Once back on Hwy 1, we headed north back to Half Moon Bay and lunch as Sam’s Chowder House.  A member of BAMA joined us for lunch.  Everyone loved the run!

We had 3 cars from the San Diego Club and 2 from SOCALM.  We had 3 cars unable to attend at the last minute.  Several stayed over to enjoy another day at the coast, and the beautiful sunshine.  Those that left, drove back down the coast to Santa Cruz for an ice cream stop prior to heading back over the hills home.

Four cars stayed an extra night, toured a light house, went out for dinner then sat around, relaxed and had a  few beers. Then took a scenic tour home on Monday on Hwy 25 south of Hollister, stopped at an old biker bar for a hamburger and then home. Great weekend. Jim and Juanita did a great job putting this run on.
